Using a light pen via an industrial quality monitor, the user selects the required item quickly and easily. The front of the drawer illuminates to show where the chosen item can be withdrawn or returned. It does not drop tools during dispensing and accepts industry standard packaging. There are no motors to burn out or helixes to hang up. It provides more functionality in the standard package than the candy machine alternative. It is inherently more reliable, vastly more durable and provides more functionality for metalcutting manufacturing operations. The unit is completely secure, easy to use and foolproof. The user picks from a list of items that he's entitled to select, gets exactly and only what's requested. His transaction is logged and time-stamped through the tool management system. The base unit (2 frames) can be connected together to provide a bank of up to 10 modules, with up to 800 drawers and 4,800 individually controlled compartments. Much more than a vending unit, Kennametal ToolBoss system is a secure, electronically locked tool storage cabinet that can establish 24-hour tool control over high value items. It issues tools, returns tools, sends to re-work, supports EDI ordering, and provides for multi-vendor security. Multiple units in the same facility can be connected via network to enable central management and reporting from a single or multiple desktop workstation's. ToolBoss reports provide detailed usage and tracking information. ToolBoss comes equipped for optional EDI ordering of Kennametal-supplied items. The Kennametal ToolBoss ™ system is a secure, electronically locked tool storage cabinet that can establish 24-hour tool control over high value items. It issues tools, returns tools, sends to re-work, supports EDI ordering, and provide for multi-vendor security. For more storage capacity, simply bolt on an add-on unit. KATMS provides comprehensive tool and metalcutting supply
management for the manufacturing enterprise. The software supports
purchasing, automated replenishment, crib management, kitting, and
tool assembly management, as well as graphics and setup sheets for
presetting. It provides a complete tool technology module that can be
customized to hold tool data, tool application data, and workpiece
material data for your standard metalcutting operations.

Kennametal Automated Tool Management Solutions software (KATMS) Is a
modern, attractive Windows®-based software package that runs on the
Microsoft® ACCESS® database. Other KATMS versions run on
enterprise-class databases like ORACLE® and Microsoft SQL Server.
KATMS replaces the Kennametal Tool Location Management™ software (TLM),
includes an extensive new feature-set and provides current TLM users
with a migration path.

KATMS is a global software product. It’s in use in the Kennametal
Supply chain programs in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas. KATMS
language support includes Mandarin (simple Chinese), Portuguese,
German, Italian, Spanish, French, English (UK) and English (USA).
Provides Full Functionality
KATMS manages and tracks usage of items, assemblies and kits that
reside outside of a tool management unit. It can replenish and provide
reports on inventory (including rework) in a stand-alone tool crib,
multiple tool cribs, or cribs with multiple tool management units on
the same network. The KATMS Gage Option provides gage recall tracking
and the Pregaging Workstation Option interfaces KATMS software with
industry-standard presetters.
KATMS has an expanded purchasing module that supports requisitions, purchase orders, blanket contracts, rework orders and electronic ordering. Its tool technology module provides for application datalike feeds, speeds, setup sheets, videosto be attached (and viewable) to items, assemblies and kits. Multi-user KATMS versions include the capability to set up and manage multiple tool cribs and multiple TOOLBOSS units. From a single workstation, a user can check stock and run reports on any tool crib or TOOLBOSS unit on network. KATMS enables consolidated reporting and ordering across multiple points of issue.
